This weekend will see Electric Eels first team travel to Thornaby for the first round of North East Regional League. The first team 2018/19 season will begin at 12 PM when they face newly promoted side Leeds Dynamos. Later in the day, the side will face Newcastle at 2 PM.
First team coach, Lee Brennan has praised the team for their efforts within preseason and has highlighted the challenges Eels will face on Sunday. Lee said: " We're all looking forward to the start of the new season. We've trained hard through the summer and now we'll be putting all those hours of training to good use on the pitch. The first team squad is larger this season so we'll be able to rotate more and rest player as and when.
" We start off with a difficult game against newly promoted Leeds Dynamos and then take on Newcastle later in the day. Newcastle have a number of National League Premiership players in their squad so that will be a challenge as well but I'm sure we can rise to it."
