Hull & East Yorkshire Powerchair Football Club is the region's first & only powerchair football club. Formerly known as East Riding Electric Eels the club was formed in 2012 following two successful taster sessions. Since then, the club has grown significantly within players who attend the club.
We have a wide range of players who play at various levels from the National League to Regional League to those who just come for social activity. Its main aim is to allow physically disabled people to play a fast-paced team game, something that most of the members we have never been able to do. Most of our members are people that can’t physically play sports like wheelchair basketball and struggle to find a team sport they can take part in independently.
We have over 20 players registered to the club, over ten of our players compete in our teams. At the club we have a pathway for those who choose to play competitively can start. We have two distinctive teams, a first-team, academy team and development/social players.
Our first team compete in the PTC Therapeutics Premiership national league and North East Premiership Regional League. Our academy team compete in the Switalski Solicitors Yorkshire League. Some of our players who attend, use the club as a way of getting out and about and away from the normal day to day troubles of living with a severe and often life-limiting disability. The players’ parents, carers and family members all socialise with each other and help talk about disability-related topics and everyday family matters. We aren’t just a club we are one BIG COMMUNITY!
