Electric Eels travel to Nottingham

Over the weekend Electric Eels will play in a total of five games and hope to continue to push for the play off spot. The team currently sit in 5th position with 23 points following 7 wins, 2 draws and 4 defeats from thirteen matches.

On Saturday 17 March Electric Eels face Middlesbrough Reserves at 9:15am, then at 1pm the team will face Cheltenham SW All Star, finishing the day Electric Eels will face Sevenoaks at 4:45pm. On Sunday 18 March the team will face Nottingham Forest PFC at 10:30am, and their final match will be at 3:30pm against Wessex Warriors PFC.

Lee Brennan, head coach states the team are raring to go following a long break from National League. Lee said: "After a long winter National League break, we're back in action in Nottingham. We're currently in 5th place and we'll be giving it our best shot to claim that 3rd place play-off position. Like always, every game again is a tough one but if we play to the level I know we can, then points are achievable in all 5 of this weekend's games. "

Making his debut this weekend is Joel, who has earned his spot in the first team following impressive performances in matches so far this season for the Academy team and in training. Lee said: " We're also introducing Joel into the team for his NL debut so we'll have a 5 man squad to chose from for the first time this season. Fatigue is a key factor for our players - especially when we have 3 games in one day - so Joel's inclusion will be a timely boost. I know all the players love pulling on that yellow and black Eels shirt and representing the club. The commitment they show makes me proud to be stood on the touchline alongside them."

Academy coach and captain of the first team shares his praise on Joel earning a spot in the national league team. Kai said: " I'm immensely proud of Joel for earning a spot in the first team. As the academy coach, I've been really impressed with how much Joel has improved as a player in training and importantly, in competitive fixtures. I've been speaking with Lee for a while now about Joel saying he deserves a spot. It's something we say to all of our players that if you perform consistently really well you will earn a spot in the first team.

Speaking about this weekend Kai said: " We're really looking forward to get back playing in the national league. We have been working really hard in training as a team getting ready for some tasty fixtures this weekend. As a team, we have spoken about working hard for each other and create opportunities, we really want to push for that play off spot. We welcome Joel this weekend to the team and we have been training with him for quite a while now, he's improved a lot over recent weeks and will certainly give the team a fresh boost. "
